Who Do You Love?

Who do you love?

If you knew your life on earth was coming to an end and if you only had one thing you were allowed to share to one person on earth, who would that person be and what would you share?

I don’t often think of this question because it is somewhat morbid, but recent events in my life have made me aware that there might come a time in my life when I may only have a moment to share my final words with the one I very deeply care about.

I thought about it a lot today and decided that to the love of my life I would say, “I love you. I love you like I have never loved before.”

Friends, this person who I love so deeply has shown me what true love is.

I love how this person looks at me with admiration, as if I am the most important person in the world, without judgment, without condemnation. I want to spend the rest of my life with this person. Forever could never come too soon. I do not even know if it makes sense, forever never coming too soon. It doesn’t matter. What matters is that I am in love with someone who I want to spend eternity with. Today, tomorrow, forever!

Our love is undeniable, unquenchable, and it cannot be undone.

Friends, what I have described here is a love that I have with someone on earth, and the truth of the matter is that this is the same kind of love that I have for my Heavenly Father and it is the same kind of love that our Heavenly Father has for us.

The Love of Our Father

Scripture is the word, and the word is truth. My friends, I hope that the following scriptures bring forth the knowledge of the love our Father has for you. I hope as you read these scriptures that you come to understand how much you are loved by God in heaven and by the brothers and sisters in Christ that He has placed in your life to love you on earth.

We are saved from our sins. Jesus loves us so much He suffered and died on the cross for us.

Ephesians 2:4-7
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved – and raised up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

1 John 4:7-8
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Romans 5:2-5
Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

We do not have to earn God’s love. God demonstrated His love by His sacrifice of Jesus who died on the cross for us. We do not have to work toward being loved by God. He gives it to us freely.

God’s love is steadfast and unchanging. It comforts us. It is revealed to us through Jesus Christ, It is poured into us through the Holy Spirit. It compels us to love one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.

There is no end to this kind of love. When you have it, you know it, and there is no way you will ever let it end.

Who Do You Love?

As I have asked myself this question, I ask you the same: Who do you love, and what would you say to that person if you had only a moment in time to say it to them?

Well then… go say it to them now while you have the chance.

The Gift of Love

Our Father gives us a gift of love that we can share with someone until we meet Him in Heaven. This kind of love is indescribable. It is a kind of love that is only a smidgen of the measure of the love waiting for us in heaven. You will know it when you receive it and when you receive it you will never want to let it go.

My hope to you, friends, is that you find this kind of love with someone. And when you do find this kind of love, my hope is that you would share this love with others so that they too may feel, through you, an amazingly beautiful kind of unending love.

Today’s Video: Only You Can Love Me This Way

While not a worship song, per se, today’s video speaks to the kind of love we receive from our Heavenly Father. Friends, no one loves us like our Father. His love is deep and lasts for an eternity. May you be loved by the Father in Heaven and may you also have someone on earth who loves you in a way that is worthy of your love in return.
